Personalized learning in the Westside Community Schools individualizes learning to help learners discover and broaden the ways they learn best. We ensure that students become independent learners committed to their learning by encouraging student choice, student voice and student interest to master the highest standards possible in a relational environment.
A District team has developed “Five Elements of Personalized Learning” at Westside Community Schools. 1. Knowing Your Learners. 2. Voice and Choice 3. Flexible Groups and Space 4. Data Informed 5. Technology Support. Teachers identified as early adopters are helping to identify the importance of personalized learning that is inspiring and engaging to all staff and learners incorporating the five elements. They are establishing a process for implementing personalized learning models across the District now and into the future in connection with the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM).
