In July, over 350 educators from around the Midwest and me, descended upon Lincoln, Nebraska for the 2017 Google Summit. As I attended a session on Google Tips, something was confirmed for me. Inviting staff using Google Calendar has made my life easier and streamlined!
Google Calendar allows me to invite multiple individuals to an event, detailing the time, specific location with google maps, and a detailed description of the event. If I want an individual to know they have an option to attend, I simply click the silhouette and it turns from black to white. I can easily attach documents to the event if needed. Can’t make the event in person? No problem! Schedule a Google Hangout using the same event. Emailing the attendee list is as easy as clicking the “Email guests” button to communicate changes, send a reminder, or summary of the event when it is over.
I have made the transition from emailing dates and hoping individuals add them to their calendar, to only inviting people through Google Calendar. The moral of this story is . . . if you want people to attend your event and not miss out, invite them!
