Eric Jensen is a former teacher who grew up in San Diego, California. With a PhD in Human Development, he synthesizes brain research and develops practical applications for K-12 educators. Dr. Jensen co-founded an academic enrichment program, now held in 16 countries with over 65,000 graduates to help answer two questions. One, “Is it possible to turn struggling students around in just days or weeks?” And, second, “If it is possible, what insights and strategies can help us do that in schools?” He’s written over 28 books and Westside Staff received a focus on engaging students, the effects of poverty on the brain, and instructional best practices when dealing with disadvantaged learners. By the end of the session, Westside staff learned exactly how you can turn struggling students around and help them graduate career and college ready.
