On February 16th, 2015, District staff members collaborated in cross curricular/grade level groups s to focus on the future of Westside Community Schools. Groups of 4-6 team members collaborated to create a “Glimpse” of the Future using the three core strategies from the District Strategic Plan. Staff members created their glimpses using various technology tools on iPads and Macs (e.g. PicCollage, iMovie, Word, Keynote, ChatterPix Kids, Animoto, Google Classroom, Voice Recorder, PowToon, and Quicktime). Below are a few examples of what staff created to convey their “Glimpse” and a consolidated list of ideas about what the near future may bring.

You are part of a District that is defined by unparalleled excellence, innovation, individualization, and committed sense of community. Our District exists both to ensure success for all learners and to redefine the standard of what education should be. Today, your team will have one and a half hours to visualize what this might look like at the District, building, classroom level, or combination. Please note that the core strategies listed in the Strategic Plan will be developed and pursued over the next several years. The District and your building design team will continually work together to provide the support, background and training needed to make these strategies come to life. By sharing your thoughts today through this activity today, future staff development days and building trainings will be shaped to support our design process.
After deciding on your group’s focus, use the three core strategies listed in the Strategic Plan as guides in your discussion and planning. Finally use the guiding bullet points listed in the instructions to trigger your thinking and to guide you in describing your glimpse of our future.
